Hello, fellow South Carolina archivists!

Well, we're just under six months away from the 2013 Academy of Certified Archivists exam. If you're like me, you're just starting to think about your study plans (which is either way too late to start, or way too early, depending on your point of view). So, I've put together this blog as a site where we can exchange ideas, thoughts, and advice. Or as a place to air out frustrations and confusion (A.C.A.-related, of course).

I've started the ball rolling by going through the A.C.A.'s list of Selected Readings, as laid out in the Handbook for Archival Certification, and finding as many as I could online. Surprisingly, many of them are freely available as full-text pdfs, especially through the wonderful HathiTrust. If you click on the tab labelled "Free Resources," you will see all the free texts I was able to find, arranged by Domain as the A.C.A. set out, with links.

I've also added a calendar to help us all keep track of the days (which I suspect will slip by much more quickly than we realize). The deadline for submitting your A.C.A. exam application is May 15. The exam date is August 14.

There is also a "Getting Certified" page, which will give you the bare facts about applying to take the A.C.A. exam. For a complete run-down on the certification process, including the suggested reading list and sample exam questions, consult the handbook.

Now let's get cracking!
